Spode Christmas Tree Tureen

later With nearly half of the other shoppers having issues with things like broken ladles, ordering this item was nerve wracking. I hesitated for over a year due to concerns about returning it, but once I finally ordered the soup tureen, luck was on my side and the set arrived undamaged. However, everything said about the lack of padding for the blade is absolutely true. In the Spode gift box, the ladle is just enclosed in a transparent plastic bag and is free to move. It has no dedicated compartment or cardboard body, it simply rests on a piece of cardboard that is placed on the lid and base of the tureen. At least those two items have some insulation, but the bucket doesn't have padding, so it's vulnerable. Located just below the relatively thin lid of the box, the part would break if any pressure/weight pressed on the top or dropped. Why am I talking about this when my set arrived intact? Because the rest of the review will consist of talking about what a beautiful tureen is and how happy I am with the purchase. But it's also important to say that my experience undoubtedly involves blind luck because the problem isn't solved. So approach the matter with knowledge and caution. A legged tureen is a large, impressive object that can hold (to the brim) a gallon of soup. As production ceased in England in 2009 the quality of finish may vary but I have not found any blemishes, chips or roughness. This is a great branded item. It was made to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Christmas tree pattern and was only made for one year, 2013. This is a special piece with graceful lines that will look great on a festive dining table.
