They just work but based on other reviews I think the biggest issue is the instructions. I use two of these with HTPC emulators running in X input mode. The computer sees it as the Xbox 360's controller. Works well with the other two wireless controllers I use. So 4 wireless controllers work at the same time, no problem. I wish there was an easy way to disable it, or at least turn off the light. They are almost always the same when connected to a PC. The auto-off time is quite long. Maybe 5 minutes? Other controllers I have shut down after a minute or so. The manual might say something about but it's all so confusing. As for the problems faced by other people. This controller has multiple modes. The mode is indicated by indicators in the lower center area. You hold down the home button to switch modes. When I plugged in the dongle and turned on the controller, my computer saw that it had a "c02 controller" or something. It's not ideal because I think it means it uses D input. In any case, it didn't work in this mode for most things. Holding down the home button changed the mode and my computer then saw it as a controller for the Xbox 360. I'm assuming it's the X input mode. X input is pretty much the default mode for Windows and most other devices. In this mode, it works great with any game that can recognize X-Input controllers, even without having to remap anything. Therefore, if you get this but it doesn't work with your device, try changing the mode by holding the home button. There are 4 modes but it looks like 2 x input modes and 2 d input modes. In conclusion, it has a TON of features and the instruction manual is poorly worded and in some cases doesn't help. I think the M buttons on the back are cool, but I'd prefer if they just looked like extra buttons or something.
