My German Shorthaired Pointer cat is the HIGHEST YIELD in food. As a puppy, I fought with her and tried to get her to swallow the Eukanuba puppy food recommended by her breeder. a kind of heaviness on her - and she didn't like it either. I was coerced into trying a few things at Petco before my vet scolded me for falling for all the hype surrounding certain products, but mostly I wanted her to eat it. My breeder suggested BillJac, she seems to like this but it is very dry and should not be wet or it will turn into a pure mush. Then another German Shorthaired Pointer show dog owner suggested I try Viktor. It has a reputation for good food. It's expensive, but it's not available locally for me. Now I give her two cups of Victor every night, along with two cups of Biljac on her plate. She alternates which side of the bowl she follows. Usually all four cups are ready by the middle of the next day, then we pour again. She KEEPS her weight on – she's not gaining weight but I find I have to babysit her a lot to make her gain weight. Food just doesn't motivate them unless it's a piece of cheese.
