Review on Kensington Multi-Display Adapter with DisplayLink - USB 3.0 (K33974AM) in Black by Doug Olson

Works well, some issues still need to be resolved.

USB3 speed is good for feedback speed. I usually read/encode on a monitor, so I don't really notice the speed (also, I've never had a USB 2.0 adapter). You can watch something animated on it, like South Park, and see almost no lag (movies have a noticeable lag). ). OpenGL isn't supported, so some things don't work fully, e.g. B. You cannot use iPhoto on this monitor. Applications like Stream don't work with it, nor can it set a color profile. This is a known issue, not sure if they have plans to fix it or if there are hardware limitations. I also found that USB3 creates some bad interference in the 2.4GHz band. Therefore, you may have problems with Bluetooth or 2.4GHz WiFi. (Using a dual band 2.4GHz-5GHz router may help me here). Because of this interference, my studio monitors are very loud, so you need to be aware of that. I've ordered a shielded adapter cable and will try optical audio. I will add later. Otherwise works pretty well, easy to install drivers on OSX. I thought I would buy consumer USB3 adapters so I expected some issues, maybe a little more than I expected, but everything works.

Pros
  • USB to DVI connection and DVI->VGAA adapter included
Cons
  • Security
