I bought this table before 8/2012 (new model) a month ago and absolutely love it! When I booked a table I was concerned that my laptop would not fit and would cover the mouse pad area and/or that the mouse pad would be too small to use. But that's definitely not true! It fits my 17" laptop perfectly on a piece of wood, leaving about 1/2" of space on each side so the laptop has no protrusions on either side. The mouse pad is very large and by far my favorite surface for my laser mouse. I even have a fan under my laptop and it works great. Cooler Master NotePal U2 Laptop Cooling Pad with Dual 80mm Custom Fans (R9-NBC-8PBK-GP) Another note: the legs do not lock when opened, they lock in the closed position, which prevents that the legs stand out... when you pick up the table, which is wonderful! And when the legs are open they extend just enough to make the table very stable and stay in place exactly as they should when open. They don't wobble or wobble at all. It will take a good tork before they break apart when opening, I have dogs and children so this has been tested! This worked perfectly when I used it on my couch and bed. But my favorite spot is on my chair, I keep the table legs closed and the table supported by the chair's armrests so I can kick back, kick back and enjoy the benefits of my laptop effortlessly and with nothing on my lap. . Thanks to this table, I can even play World of Warcraft half-lying! The last thing I can mention is that there is ample legroom. :)
