This is a surprise birthday present for my 8 year old son and he can assemble it himself (about 15 minutes). The instruction booklet has very clear instructions like step by step and I think it's good for a beginner. The telescope can be adjusted from 16 to 46 feet and can adapt to different viewing positions. The tripod is strong enough to support the entire telescope. They provided a universal smartphone adapter and wireless remote control to explore the moon in the distance. My son took some amazing pictures of the moon as well as some planets. He is very happy with this telescope.
