We are more than happy with the Nikon Coolpix P1000 that we ordered as a kit. The camera is heavy, so you need a steady hand. The shots we've taken so far show wildlife from a distance and require a tripod. The tripod that came with it isn't strong enough so we use an older tripod we have that is much stronger. Because the camera is battery powered, it doesn't hold a charge in cold weather for as long as it might need to. I haven't researched if there are "freeze resistant" batteries. In general we are happy with the camera and are working on learning how to use its features. Love the fact that we don't have to have multiple lenses!
