This body sponge is ideal for use in the shower. I don't use it with body gel, I wet it and gently massage it into my skin after cleansing. It fits perfectly in my hand. There is a rougher side and a softer side, so you can choose which side works best for your skin. The rough side is not "rough". Both sides gently exfoliate my skin. I use it every other shower. It dries great. I plant it in the shower and it doesn't mold or mildew. I don't use it on my face so it's for sensitive skin. I use a facial cleanser. I would say it lasts about a month. I'm concerned about bacterial growth. It's for a long time as long as you care. My dermatologist actually recommended something similar for my sensitive body skin. I'm glad I found something inexpensive that works. Highly recommended as a body scrub. I photographed the soft side and the rough side. You'll never know I've already used this to exfoliate.
