Blank or not, it's a great deterrent. I put them on the front and side corners of my house that face both streets since I have a corner lot. I have real cameras for the backyard and the other side of the house. So here are my thoughts. I like that the constant blinking light requires standard AA batteries to operate. The cameras are nice and big so they stand out during the day. They look real even up close, but who would really dare check them out when they think the cameras are recording! They are well designed and the angle adjustment is easy to fix. They can be mounted horizontally on a wall or vertically on a cornice. They have metal legs and mounts, but the camera is plastic. I think silver will hide the aging process from daily sun exposure better than black. I think the single flash feature is great at night to scare off the bad guys as the flash indicates working mode. It also indicates daytime operation. Keep in mind that many robberies take place during the day. I also find that batteries last longer with a flashing light. I hope they also deter those mean dog breeders who let their dogs poop on my lawn because they think it's safe. They are very easy to install. I applied a strip of tape to the battery latch area to make the battery compartment waterproof despite the camera's protective cover. It really makes a lot of sense whether you have real existing cameras or no cameras, but more importantly, they can serve your needs well for a few bucks each, which is worth it in the crazy times we all live in! UPDATE 11-1-19 Went out to change batteries. Bought these pacifiers about a year ago. Put new batteries in the first chamber and the LED will flash, but after putting new batteries in the other 3. NO luck. The LEDs do not flash. The LEDs are meant to last, but apparently that's not the case with these cameras. Without an LED to flash at night when it's dark, it's useless as a warning.
