Review on Get Creative With Threadart'S Meadow Green Wooly Nylon Thread - Perfect For Serger Sewing And Stretchy Fabrics! by Eduardo Long

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Made of multiple strands that are not interlocked

I've never used nylon thread before. (Sailrite recommended a nylon thread for upholstery with a little stretch to it.) This thread has multiple fibers; they are not interlocked / woven together. It fuzzes into the individual pieces as soon as you pull some off the spool. Threading a needle is a challenge, but if you lick the end you can do it. But, then it snagged immediately in the bobbin assembly, so I gave up, went to Wally World and bought polyester.

Pros
  • gift
Cons
  • Using a specific color of thread, like meadow green, can limit the versatility and variety of the garment being sewn

I decided to make my first bathing suit. First time using Lycra, first time using a serger. What a different world than sewing on woven fabric. This wooly nylon thread really made a difference after I switched from polyester thread. The hardest thing about using it is threading the serger. I had to knot it to the polyester that I had threaded in order to get it on the serger. You''d think tying a knot would be easy - ha! Once I got it on the serger, though, it sews like a dream.

Pretty color, exactly what I needed. This was my first time to use a wooly nylon. A little harder to thread my serger with this versus regular thread. The effect is nice when creating a rolled edge. I use a floss threader ( for braces ) to thread my needles with this thread because it gets all fuzzy and you can''t create a point to get it through the eye of the needle.
