I bought it because my kids lost the original. It worked perfectly right out of the box. I didn't have to do anything to make it work on my TV model. My only complaint is that I've dropped it a few times, as have you. And the battery cover came off for the last time. And the little hook holding the lid is broken. Can't tell if it's due to a manufacturer fault as I'm the one who dropped it a couple of times. So I won't deduct the stars given. However. I've dropped the original OEM remote many times and nothing has ever broken. Maybe a slightly cheaper plastic was used for this. Maybe it was just bad luck. Will never know
