This is my second photo frame, 11x14 black photo frame. I accidentally hit the first one and it fell off the wall and broke. He crashed! So why did I buy a second one?! The frame fell about 7 feet and yes the wood broke on two corners but the glass didn't shatter and the painting inside wasn't damaged. In a way, the frame absorbed all the energy of the impact, sacrificing itself but preserving the image. I don't have carpet, I have parquet floors so I was impressed that the glass didn't crack once and I was very happy that the painting wasn't damaged as it was a gift from an old friend and can't be replaced. Four pieces of wood/wood composite slats, normal mattress, pressed/chipboard base and glass. Doesn't look handmade, but I wouldn't have expected that for the price. It doesn't look cheap nor does it feel cheap. It feels heavy, I think mainly due to the weight of the glass. I like the simple black border that doesn't distract from the work it's framing. Just as. Maybe as a gift, but not just as a frame. To frame a photograph, painting or other piece of art you are giving as a gift, yes I would recommend this frame for that type of gift. Buying the same item is the best recommendation I can give.
