Review on πŸ“ž Uniden TRU9460: 5.8 GHz Compact Cordless Phone with Call Waiting & Caller ID by Evelyn Cacsire

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good phone with some flaws

As far as I can tell this is just a cosmetic change from Uniden's previous line of 5.8Ghz phones - I already have one with answering machine built in and all was the reason for my purchase. In hindsight, I would have happily bought a more expensive device with a built-in answering machine and speakerphone on the base unit (see "Poor” below). Good: 1. The hands-free function of the phone is great. The voice quality is excellent. This is one of the main reasons for buying this phone.2. This is a 5.8GHz spectrum phone, meaning it won't interfere with my wireless network like 2.4GHz does.3. Looks nice. Bad: 1. Therefore only four stars: If it is plugged into the charging cradle, you cannot use it. This is very annoying, especially when I use the phone a lot and drain the battery. I have to plan when to put my phone in the mount to make sure it has enough power. This may not be a problem if you have a phone base nearby, but my office is in the attic with my VOIP box and internet connection.2. Doesn't work well with a headset. This seems to be a common problem with cordless handsets - when you plug in a headset, people can barely hear you. I had to buy a Plantronics headset with an amplified microphone to get a working solution. Update: I have purchased an additional handset for the phone - model number TCX905. My main issue now is moot as I can charge one tube while the other is in use. An added bonus is that the handset can also be registered on another line in the house if I need to use it with this phone. This is an old Uniden phone but I can still use the new phone with it. All in all, I'd recommend the Undiden to anyone looking for an attractive phone, good feature set, and good sound quality.
