Does not expand to advertised 3.75 inch width. It opened no more than 3 inches at first, then pulling harder eventually opened a little more but started to twist. It barely fits my s9 with the otterbox case which is 3.25. It scrapes the crap out of your case (or your phone) when you press it against your phone because it doesn't open wide enough, so be careful. There is only a soft lining on the back and the sides are made of sharp plastic and due to the fact that it doesn't open well it scratches everything a lot. Grrr. I have a rubber otter so I didn't care, and I only use it a couple of times a month when the kids call certain people, but for those with good cases that you care about, I'd stay away from this tripod. Remote pairing is fine and works via Bluetooth. I didn't try the app as the bluetooth option worked. My phone is too heavy for this tripod but I can manipulate my hands enough and the pan head is enough to make it functional but if you need precision and height this isn't for you. This is one of those items where you get what you pay for.
