Review on 40-Cup Rectangular Airtight Food Storage Container by Snapware by Elizabeth Reyes

Yes it will work

Found this while looking for a container to store extra flour that doesn't fit in my regular flour jar. It's a lot cheaper to buy 10 or even 25 pound bags of flour than 5 pound bags and when I bake, I bake a lot. The only problem was storing my dry goods after opening. While this isn't enough to store twenty pounds of flour, it's quite enough to store ten. The square shape is preferred in a storage container as you're wasting space if you use round ones. At first I had doubts about printing. When received there was a small strip of thin green cardboard in one of the corners between the container and the lid to help with the first lifting of the lid. When I washed the container, I filled it with water and turned it upside down to check the tightness: water was seeping out of the corner where the box was. Rather than return it right away, I filled the container up with the hottest tap water and let the silicone seal "wet" it a bit by running my finger over the seal to smooth it out. When the lid was closed and the container knocked over again, the "leak" changed from a trickle to a random "drip". The dent in the silicone seal caused by the cardboard strip was temporary. I weighed it and this container holds 16 pounds of flour, maybe a little more, but I wanted to leave some room so the flour doesn't spill out when the measuring cup is dipped. The handle seems strong enough to take the weight, but I still support the ground - more for my own peace of mind. I don't want the handle to give way and the container to fall and break on the tiled floor. I need a larger container to hold my 25 pound bags of bread or all purpose flour, but it's perfect for my cake flour. It's a keeper!
