This is a sturdy stool but you will need to secure the sides by attaching two latches on each side before the last tabs on the underside of the step. This locks the pages in place so it doesn't fold on you. I'm not sure if all folding steps have some sort of locking mechanism, but it seems likely. These two tabs are not very important and once locked they can pop out when you move the stool. Just make sure the tabs are in the locked position and the step is fully extended before stepping on it. I installed mine with no problem and when I stood on the stool it felt solid. I weigh about 250 pounds. but the chair is rated at 330 pounds. that kept me okay. It was exactly what I was looking for and I recommend it for tall people. Just make sure it's locked before stepping on it.
