Review on Watts FM 1A 975 Micron Filter Cartridge by Shahed Cleveland

There is always a balance between flow rate/gpm and porosity (0.5/1/5/10 microns). So when I saw a flow rate of 3 GPM at a porosity of 1 micron I bought it. At 0.5 microns or less at 1 micron you start to get some protection. And you do with this filter, but not quite enough. According to the manufacturer, the filter works against Cryptosporidium and Giardia cysts. However, this filter does NOT filter out cysts in general; according to the information on the packaging. This may very well be an oversight on the part of the manufacturer, but it needs to be clarified (sorry for the pun!). Incidentally, impurities such as lead, arsenic or chromium are NOT filtered out by this filter; as it says on the box. Also, the physical dimensions of this filter cartridge are WRONG. This is a standard 10" x 2.5" filter cartridge.
