This is a big beautiful mix of scratching post and furniture. Outstanding quality for the price. It is perfectly durable for cats. That looks great! A huge improvement over the light green carpeted cat tree I currently use. It also became an instant hit with my kittens, who could just climb to the top. However, the descent required more thought and effort. The wood appears to be a strong but lightweight plank and laminated veneer that mimics wood. The white faux fur strap and front are very soft. The high scratching post is suitable for both climbing and scratching. Cats can scratch at any of three levels while standing. The upper/4th Tier is for light decoration/storage, not extensive storage or heavy items. The rear legs are adjustable for stability on uneven floors. I like the height of the first shelf, it's about 8 inches off the floor and there's enough room for my robot vacuum. There is no padding for this first shelf, so I put a small pet bed there. Hardware and tools needed for assembly Each part is boxed and clearly marked with letters (A, B, C, D) that peel off cleanly if done slowly. Unfortunately there is a large label on a shelf and the adhesive does not come off cleanly. I need Goo Gone. There is quite a lot of cardboard, plastic and foam packaging. And the manufacturer supplies additional pieces of each screw, bolt, nut. I had many extra. There is also a wall mounting kit. Very nice scratching post disguised as furniture for the price.
