So much thought went into the development of these models! Most likely, this design came from an engineer who really knew what he was doing. The new design took into account and corrected everything that was outdated and caused problems with old, outdated plastic Christmas candles. Uncomfortable, oversized plastic feet are a thing of the past, replaced with a smaller foot that even fits on the bottom of the window frame. It's high time to buy modern windows without a window sill. There is a clear, unobtrusive suction cup that also attaches the candle to the jar. Don't lose them, they are so useful! The bases are most likely still plastic, but they look convincing in silver or brass, your choice, which looks much better. The candles themselves are white, not as ugly beige as outdated ones. I don't know if the bulbs are replaceable or not, but they are LED bulbs so should last for years and use less energy. The body of the bulb is also white, but the bulb inside emits a warm golden light, just like the photo. The shape of the lamp shells has been updated to look more realistic like flames and there is an additional tweak that even makes the light flicker gently. It's like they've thought of everything to make these Christmas candles look like "real" candles. Batteries that power them are included. Oh, did I mention remote controls? They have timers with a choice of two settings, 4 or 8 hours. They make them easy to use. In general, candles are worth their money. I started at 8 just for the front windows but next year I want to buy candles for all the windows. I wish they had them years ago but now I'm just happy with them!
