Worked Great - Hard Drive Enclosure

At first I was very concerned about taking it out of the box as to whether this part would work with my 20 year old Maxtor hard drive that was in the desktop my then teenager was building would have. from scratch over the last millennia, or when deep fried. The drive was already making some pretty weird noises and showing a "missing driver" message on the desktop, so it wasn't initializing, which is why I needed it. Unitek was very responsive to questions and that helped a bit. So I connected the unit to an old 3.5" drive as I didn't want to slide the drive on its last leg so I didn't remove it from the rack but just unplugged the cable and power cords. Connected to the laptop and the viola!, the contents of the hard drive appeared. As mentioned in another Unitek guide, I received a message from Microsoft that I was not allowed to access files. I changed the setting by clicking 'next' and it was that simple. I put my pass in the second USB port and downloaded whatever content I wanted. The drive still spun noisily, but held up. All within an hour of delivery by the postman. I don't need the software and it would be better if it was on the package insert. Overall great product, great company. I definitely recommend buying from Unitek and not other similar sources and devices.
