Review on πŸ”₯ Authentic Offset Ignitor for Viking PA020028 Grill by Paul Andrews

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The best way I solved the problem was in spare parts

I bought a Viking stove 36 inch, 6 burners, bought in 1999. It was an amazing stove, was a real workhorse for 22 years - until one of the burners stopped lighting. To the right. The problem wasn't really that the burner ignited, but that the igniters on several other burners continued to burn indefinitely, even after the burner I had turned on had ignited. After doing a little research, I found these replacement igniters, and while they looked a bit different than the originals, instead of spending $150+ parts on repairs, I decided to risk $40 on a replacement igniter. The igniter is actually quite simple. To replace, simply remove the top grate, dirt ring and round diffuser on top of the burner. Then, using a Phillips screwdriver (the only tool you will need) unscrew the two screws at the base of the old igniter (put them in a bowl nearby to keep them safe!) and carefully pry the old igniter out. There is a small crimp connection that connects the low voltage wire to the base of the igniter. Carefully detach it from the old igniter - and don't let go of the wire, otherwise it will fall into the oven and you will spend a lot of time finding and recapturing it! Next, line up the wire clip with the hole that the old igniter's base went through, attach it to the bottom pin of the new igniter, and then screw the entire assembly in place using the same old screws (making sure the offset lip is above). of the igniter points to the burner). All of this might sound a little intimidating, but don't worry, if you have even a little bit on hand, you'll find out. Replacing the igniter solved my problem, apparently there is a tiny thermocouple in the igniter that when the burner is safely ignited tells the electronic brain of the lighting system to stop sparking all other igniters. And I saved a lot of money and didn't have to wait the full 6 hours "windows" that the repair company would charge. Very happy! As far as I can tell this new igniter will fit all Viking stoves from at least the late 90's and possibly earlier. At least it worked for me.
