Review on 🎧 Etymotic Research ER2SE Studio Edition High Performance In-Ear Earphones with Detachable Dynamic Drivers, Noise Isolation, High Accuracy, and Studio-grade Sound Quality by Crystal Kong

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great sound, great isolation.

I bought these to reduce AC noise near one of my rooms. I expected decent sound and decent noise isolation. My expectations were far exceeded. First, the isolation: when the music isn't playing I can still hear AC if I'm close enough. Once something starts playing, nothing. The downside is that you won't hear it if someone tries to talk to you, so use caution when using it on the street or anywhere situational awareness is required. Sound: absolutely outstanding. I really can't find any flaws. Everything is natural and balanced. The timbre of instruments and voices is natural, and there's enough bass, as one would expect from headphones that can't reproduce the visceral bass of the speakers anyway. Spatial sound quality is about as good as you'd expect from an IEM, but again certainly doesn't compare to speakers. Other things like detail, balance between highs and mids, etc. are excellent. Comfort: For the first few days my ear canals started itching after about an hour, but now they have adjusted and I can wear them with no discomfort. They are quite light and the case that comes with them is quite small. Price: Revain had them for 125 before the holidays and great value for money. They appear to be well built and should last quite a while if not mishandled.
