I bought this product to record an interview for my masters thesis. I've found this to work very well. Only really quiet voices are not picked up by the microphone. Therefore, you need to make sure that he is close to the speaker. The different levels of noise clarity are great and it has lots of memory and different folders. The hold button is also a great feature along with the index markers. The only thing I didn't like was the three speeds. The slow speed (for playback) really wasn't that slow. This product could use other slow speed more suitable for interview transcription. It also has high speed, which was good. It was easy to transfer to my computer and I burned the recordings to CD with no problems. This product is great for interviews in quiet places and maybe lectures, but I would use it to try and decode everything. Another negative feature is that you have to use the stop button to pause playback. Each time you click play again, it will play at normal speed. So you need to reset it to a different speed by clicking "Play" again. The fast-forward and rewind buttons are also touchy, and if you don't hold them down properly they will jump back to the start of the recording, so I put index markers every twenty minutes or so. That way you don't have to fast-forward 40 or 50 minutes when going back. Overall, however, I am satisfied with my purchase.
