Too big or too small

I wanted to buy quality flannel shirts for a change. I used to buy Kohl flannel shirts and was lucky if they lasted a season. So it's time to up my game and buy something better. I know the products and the quality of Rothco so I thought why not give them a try. It was strange reading the reviews for this product. One person says buy two sizes up because it will shrink. One says buy a size down because they run big. So I just bought the size I usually wear. XL when I got this I was impressed. Not as thick as I would like, but tight enough. When I tried it on it was definitely too big. Not bad, but I knew I had to wash it anyway. It shrunk after washing in cold water and drying, but now it's perfect. It has wrinkles but if anyone knows where I can buy wrinkle free flannel shirts please let me know! I won't iron them, not because I'm afraid of the heat, but because I always wear a vest with my washcloths and roll up my sleeves. Does anyone iron flannel shirts? I think of Rothco and buy their other products: they made shirts in plus sizes to know they're going to shrink a bit. You can't avoid it. This is flannel. As long as it doesn't shrink, it's a good long-lasting shirt. And double pockets are a must for me. I have a lot of EDC stuff and my tactical shirts have a lot of pockets. And I fill them. These pockets are big enough AND they have button flaps to keep everything in. I've noticed that in many family Christmas photos everyone is wearing the same shirt, but the flannel fabric is designed for cold weather. If you need a flannel for a picture, this is a very nice flannel. If you want one for the job you won't be disappointed.
