Review on πŸ”Œ SmartThings Assistant-Compatible Sengled Equivalent by Jenny Hupke

Revainrating 5 out of 5

If Echo for Hub and Alexa can't find the lightbulbs, quickly turn them off and on 10 times to reset them!

I ordered 6 of these for my living room to work with my Echo Show so I didn't need a Sengled hub for this. Since I'm using the Echo as a hub, the light can only be adjusted via the Alexa app. The Sengled app requires you to add a hub first before adding smart bulbs, so the Alexa app was the only way for me to set up these lights. Note: You must create an account in the Sengled app and sync your accounts with Alexa (and of course have the necessary skills) before you can set up lights in the Alexa app. After I gave permission, the four lights blended in seamlessly. The last two took me an hour or more to fiddle with. Alexa was having trouble finding her. I put Shaw in the same room thinking the last 2 were outside the recommended 30ft. Not good. After a lot of searching, I found a YouTube video that says that if you turn the lights off and on again very quickly without a break 10 times, the bulbs will reset and become visible again (they will blink 5 times to complete the reset confirm). After several attempts I finally connected all 6. I don't know why the last two gave me so much trouble. Docked a star for this reason as most bulbs worked fairly quickly.

Pros
  • Pretty impressive
Cons
  • boring packaging
