While the desk itself looks and feels pretty good, the book stand doesn't hold thick books. It has maybe an inch of room for an open book. He even ripped up my book trying to put it in the slot. Also, my new 11 inch iPAD doesn't fit properly in the slot, which I thought might be the case. The legs don't snap into place, so it's awkward when I get out of bed and hope the table legs don't fold and everything slides off. You can gift this family member and find another! In general, I have no regrets. just looking for more functionality.
