Review on 🐠 Enhance Your Aquarium with the Current USA 18"-24" Satellite Plus PRO LED Light by Rebecca Inman

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A bit pricey but if my plants are ok it's worth it!

Bought this light before Finnex 24/7 came out. It is expensive (twice more expensive than Finnex). But reading other reviews it seems that Plus Pro has a higher PAR than Finnex. I can program an individual power level by controlling the RGB lighting separately for 8 hours. The addition of an inexpensive timer also allows me to take a 2 hour "siesta" to help with algae control. I thought this method wouldn't work because I'm turning off the controller, but the battery in the controller will take care of it. The ramp up/down feature takes about 10 minutes to fully raise or lower (of course it just turns off/on at the beginning and end of my siesta). I wish it had legs that lift it just a few inches higher (like the Finnex 24/7 design) to allow for wider light spread. Even a 120 degree spread from LEDs will cause some plants to bend towards the center. I'll have to do something myself then. As a hobbyist planting aquariums for the first time, I get tremendous growth. I have CO2 injection with compressed CO2 (it was too much work for me). My glossostigma and water wisteria need constant (almost too much) trimming. Dwarf Baby Tears (HC) make beautiful carpets and my red plants are very red. Would I buy Finnex 24/7 if it was available? Maybe just because of the cost and the design (which I wasn't aware of until I bought the Plus Pro). But the flaws are minor and I have to say it has made me a better underwater gardener nonetheless. I also read somewhere that 24/7 doesn't have the 660nn red needed for good photosynthesis. I could be wrong, or should I say they could be wrong. Also read that 24/7 voting is limited if you use full cycle.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • I have no complaints about it, everything is fine
