I was given this to teach disadvantaged women to embroider. This set of floss is enough for three women to have 8 skeins of different basic colors. Each of them will also have three needles. Add another needle threader to the mix so each of them has one. I've never used a seam ripper for embroidery, but I can see where it can come in handy. All you need is a design, a piece of embroidery, a lining so the thread doesn't show through, and an embroidery hoop. Embroidery is a form of slow sewing that allows you to slow down and breathe.
