the filter started leaking a little less than 2 months later. I remember reading somewhere about lubricating the seals inside with petroleum jelly, so I decided to see if that would work. It was VERY difficult to open the filter but I managed with a rubber grommet. I pulled out the filter, checked the cartridge life and found that it was already black and needed replacing. Only 2 people shower in this bathroom and not every day so I was shocked that it already needs to be replaced. There was a lot of sediment around the filter so I think our water is pretty bad. Somehow the petroleum jelly on the seals stopped the leak; However, I had to remove a lot of dirt first. As the filter was very expensive I will try a new cartridge and see what happens. This system is too expensive to replace the cartridges every 2 months after minimal use.
