Short-lived and with design flaws

Prone to corrosion when used in salt water. I disassembled the first one (which came with my trailer) and noticed a huge bead of grease on the top gears, but if you remove the handle and internals you can see there is no grease on the top third of the gear using the screw jacks. , so the meltdown caused by rust is inevitable unless you frequently disassemble and thoroughly oil the entire jack. I wash the whole boat, including the jack, immediately after every trip, and a year later the first one was completely rusted. I would also like to mention that the pin may need to be reamed and the handle replaced to lubricate the assembly. The pin itself is longer than the gap required to remove it. My suggestion when removing would be to very gently tap it on with one tap but only remove about 1/8 inch. Otherwise, have an appropriately sized drill handy and plan on having to replace the pin. Extremely careful prying this handle pin out without hitting or pinning the gear underneath, so drilling out is the only option. Bad product design.
