Choose this radio to replace the tiny Sony AM/FM radio we've had for hurricanes since the early 80's when I was working in New Orleans! We camp a lot and I wanted something more powerful and had a built in weather radio. I struggled with it for two years and after a lot of research finally decided on the Sangean PR-D4W. It's portable enough to move around the campsite and provide AM or FM entertainment. When the weather gets worse, we can get updates with the weather alert feature. It has battery backup and best of all my wife can use it so ease of use sealed the deal. It's a pretty solid device, and it's actually smaller than it looks, although it does carry some weight. So now it has earned a place in our camper and has proven itself.
