Not totally useless, but almost.
The first thing I did was throw it in my pond to test it with a 1180w photovoltaic panel. Worked great pumping 7 gallons per minute! I then placed it in my well to pump into a construction tank about 100 feet above the well. Doesn't work, not with a single 190w panel, not with two panels, not with a 24v dc converter powered by my home batteries. So if you need to pump water at low pressure, this can come in handy. appeared partially rusty directly after a few days in the water.
