Review on 🍲 Sweese Porcelain French Crocks: Elegant and Functional Kitchen Essentials by Roberto Manzer

They are really too small

They are charming and made of durable porcelain. I was very impressed with the Sweese molds I bought a few months ago. I've seen them soup jug style and really hoped they would work. I made an inquiry here as to their capacity and one respondent said they could get 1 1/4 cups to the inside top line but when they arrived I saw how small they really were and measured and this was only 1 cup. It doesn't even come close to the size of a typical serving of French onion soup in a restaurant. I don't know how you would fit standard sized croutons in there along with enough soup to balance it and the cheese on top. You would need either soup or croutons, but not both together, or very little soup with croutons. I have a Mikasa Italian Countryside if anyone is familiar with their most popular pattern, fruit bowl on top, cereal/soup bowl on the bottom. You can see how small these bowls really are. I figured if these bowls were 10 oz I could do it, but at 8 oz there is no way to get to the inside rim. If Sweez decides to remake them in a larger size, preferably at least 12 ounces like they do in restaurants, I will definitely repurchase. I don't know why they decided to make them so small, they aren't the size of a turtle. Such a shame. However, they are very well made for what they are. Very happy with the quality.
