Review on Optoma OCM818W RU Universal Projector Accessory by Charles Fowler

I bought this for the Optoma HD20 ceiling mount. The device looks beautiful. It fits well and doesn't look like a device hanging from the ceiling. This is a universal mount designed for use with a range of Optoma projectors. Therefore, it has additional details that can be customized for different projectors. While it's fairly easy to install, the instructions aren't particularly good. For example, there are two sets of mounting brackets, but the instructions don't say which ones to use with this projector or if they should be used together. There are several similar places in the manual. Likewise, the assembly instructions in the HD20 manual aren't that good. It's basically a page of vague instructions. A few tips: The HD20's lens is off-center. Even with the ability to adjust the mount from side to side, I didn't think I could center the image by setting it right in the middle. So to find the right distance to the screen and to center the lens, I placed the projector on a table and aimed it at the screen. After all the adjustments and getting the alignment perfect, I lowered a plumb line from the ceiling to figure out where the center of the projector should be. I marked this spot and then marked the ceiling for the mounting screws. After that it was pretty easy. This is definitely a two person job. Definitely I would recommend this product.
