Review on πŸ”Œ BYEASY Front Panel USB 3.0 Hub 5 Ports with Type-C Port & Card Reader - Perfect Fit for 3.5" Floppy Disk Bay (PCI-02) by Josh Thompson

The ports/slots work fine, but I didn't expect the logo to be sticky on the front - Power issues

Revain's image shows a card reader without a logo. The box shows a card reader without a logo. The product has an adhesive BYEASY logo above the USB Type-C connector. I will paint over it as in my case it is the only one with the logo. Inexplicably, the SD card reader requires the card to be inserted upside down. I have had several card readers and this is the first one that requires the card to be inserted this way. Not much, but it surprised me. Depending on the size of your case and the position of the reader in the case, the USB 3.0 cable may be a bit short. For those putting this in a 3.5 floppy slot it probably doesn't matter as they tend to be smaller in that case. If you are using a 5.25" to 3.5" adapter bracket and mount it higher or have a tall case, you may run into issues depending on where the 19/20 pin USB 3.x connector is located on your motherboard . "It's a completely useless piece of paper and shouldn't even be included as it's just a list of product features. It tells you absolutely nothing meaningful or useful for those who might have questions about installation, cable pinouts, etc. The product works great, all ports and slots are functional and running at USB 3.x speeds. This is a good product, just be aware of the "problems" mentioned above. UPDATE: The power light is always on, even when the computer is off, if I have any SATA power connector (straight from the PSU or using the power-on/SATA splitter) connected to the card reader. My power indicator is the power button itself and is quite large. When I disconnect the SATA power supply from the BYEASY box, the power indicator works as it should and turns off along with the computer. This is a big annoyance and I can return the device because of it. My previous USB 3.0 card reader worked fine on the same motherboard and power supply, but didn't have a SATA power connector. I've also noticed that the fans connected to the motherboard try to keep spinning even when the computer is off because the thing keeps drawing 5 volts. also during "shutdown". One fan actually keeps spinning slowly and the other is just trying to spin but can't, so it just "twitches". These issues seem odd to be introduced on purpose and I see a few other reviews mentioning this as well. Why does this device need to draw 5V after the computer is turned off?

Pros
  • Super Speed: The USB 3 front panel uses the latest USB 3.0 chip with a maximum transfer rate of 5Gbps . It is backward compatible with USB 2.0/1.1/1.0 devices. Remarks. It is not recommended to use the USB 3.0 port to charge devices because the charging speed is slow.
Cons
  • Money box Price
