Worth a try! on Skin Care

I bought this tanning bed after reading an incredible amount of reviews and looking at all the photos uploaded. After using it once, I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised. I'm Portuguese and French-Canadian, which in my case means that in winter I'm so pale I'm almost transparent and have a very yellow tint. This makes it almost impossible to go out with a bare face, especially with hormonally induced acne. I was excited to try this product because it works really well on even the fairest of skins, which is not an easy task for a self tanner. I've tried all drug store brands and while some of them work to a certain extent, I always end up with some orange tint (especially on my neck) when I don't have a decent base tan. Before applying I showered and exfoliated. my whole body with the Queen Helene Mint Juliep Scrub. I used Jergens Wet Lotion right after leaving the house and after drying I used a white facial tissue (to test how badly it can stain clothes) and smeared it in places I could reach easily, on the front of mine body applied. I've enlisted my boyfriend's help for my back and all those hard-to-reach places - and my biggest suggestion is that if you can, do a two-person job. The directions said to apply a thin layer and I did this for my legs, stomach and chest. When I turned to check my husband's progress he was using a lot more product than I was and I was very concerned that my back half would be a lot darker and more orange in colour. He put on so much sunscreen that it looked like he was rubbing it in, which was at least double what I had. I applied a small amount to the face, neck and behind the ears. When we were done I stood in front of the fan for a minute or two and then went to bed. I did notice a very slight tanner odor, but nothing compared to most products. The next morning I immediately examined my body and marveled at my back! I was three shades darker but everything was brown and looked like I'd had a decent few hours in the sun. My friend's application was much more balanced than mine, so I suggest enlisting the help of someone else. My face looked very, very slightly darker, so after a second shower I applied more product. I waited a few hours and applied my foundation and then I realized how big the difference was. I use at least 3 shades darker for my makeup which is amazing. My skin tone looks much more even and healthier after using it. My legs and feet looked the worst - the color on my legs was very uneven and my feet were mottled and orange. However, after a good scrub, I'd like to wear sandals or a skirt. I plan to update my review once I apply a second time with more product and gloves instead of a facial tissue.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Doubtful purchase for seniors
