I got to know telescopes through photography and it was my first mount, no experience. The first night I set it up in 20 minutes, not great mind you, but long enough to sweep across the sky and it got everything centered in the eyepiece. As I've used it, more and more shots have become faster and transitions more precise. I think I have 9 minutes left or now. But now I'm working on getting it to align its polarity correctly so it doesn't drift as much anymore, no way because of the mount, it only works with what I gave :) If it doesn't bother you, buy just do it, or better yet, grab a combo with a 6-inch Newton for another $100. I learned so much about the stars and constellations that it was a lot of fun. As your skills improve, the mount grows with you. I hope to get into astrophotography in the future and the manual and additional ports are ready and waiting.
