I live and work in a desert climate where temperatures reach 130+ degrees Fahrenheit. I needed an umbrella to provide added protection from the sun. This umbrella seems to shade more than a traditional rain umbrella and does not allow as much heat through. As for wind proof it is hard to handle in the wind. It’s too strong to fight sometimes because of the double layers, so I have to put it down when it’s too windy. The locking mechanism that holds the umbrella open is very sensitive. If you don’t push it just right you have to try several times to lock open. The handle is a bit awkward to hold. I find myself holding above the round handle. It is however nice to be able to hang it from your wrist when you need your hands free. All and all, I do like this umbrella and I love the colors. It is bigger than it looks on the pictures and I do get lots of compliments.
