Absolutely Essential

If you've bought any of those pre-filled first-aid kits, chances are a splint wasn't included. Yet getting a broken bone is a real possibility. As someone who broke my wrist can attest, the injury needs to be stabilized and put in a sling. Thus the need for this reusable splint. I have my own first-aid kit, stocked with the items I think are most necessary, to include half of a Surviveware splint. Half because I cut mine in half for two reasons--because it fits easier in my kit and because that's all you need for an arm or leg. I keep the kit in my car and the other half of the splint in my medicine shelf, both wrapped with rubber bands. Having taken the Army's Combat Lifesaver Course I appreciate the importance of having a splint on-hand. This is not a nice-to-have item. You need this, and the Surviveware splint is ideal. It's lightweight and waterproof, and it cuts easily. There's no need to improvise; with this you'll have something that will work. I hope you'll never need to use one, but wouldn't you feel more at ease having one?
