Our GSD comes from a Schutzhund breeder and therefore has a very strong bite reflex/desire. Likes to play rough if we let him, so we bought this case when he was 18 months for play (not practice, although it would probably last much better for serious practice). As a toy he was very durable, lasting 20-30 minutes of "fun time" once or twice a week when he could get mad and lasted about 6 months before he started falling apart. However, I'm giving 4 out of 5 stars for durability as the part of the sleeve that the dog MUST bite has double/triple stitching and reinforced cross stitching - this part hardly wears out. But since we only bought it for "aggressive playtime," our GSDs attack from all angles it was never designed for and managed to tear it apart from weaker angles. Other models we have purchased (including triple the price) started falling apart at these "intended" bite points before this model began to fall apart at "unintended" points. The foam padding on the rebar that you hold on to inside also came loose after about 5 months of rough play - this can be improved by using tubular foam wrapped around it and fused at the seam instead of a cut rectangle, since the seam was not This did not work and eventually led to the separation of the packaging. Once the padding has come off the bar, it's less comfortable for rough outdoor play, but still good for indoors where the dog won't be able to jump up and grab it during a full sprint. Offers good hand protection from all sides. , even at full power, if our GSD grabs a strange angle (such as the side of your hand or inside where the handle is), it will not hurt your hand. I will buy another one from this manufacturer but I will be buying several other models as well to continue my search for something better. However, until I find a better one, this was the best model we've found so far.
