The trim around the top can be removed.

The fabric border around the edges gets wet and dirty when my pet drinks or eats. So I literally just trimmed it with scissors and now it works great! I like the clasps, they are strong enough my pet can't open them. and the collar is soft enough not to put too much strain on your neck. Now that I've cut off the fabric trim on the front, it's a lot easier to keep clean. I have to wash and dry two while the other is worn.
