The battery that comes standard with almost every camcorder usually doesn't last very long. The solution is to get an extra battery, preferably with an extended lifespan. The problem, of course, is that these puppies take a long time to charge. You can always have a pair ready in the morning, but if you're recording all day you'll need to charge a spare while the other is in use. That's where this charger comes in. I bought it to use with my Canon VIXIA HF10 and HFS10 and it works great. As others have pointed out, your batteries will charge much faster than if they were plugged into a camcorder, and it also reduces wear and tear on your camcorder's adapter plug. The best thing is that it is very compact. It fits in the small side pocket of my camcorder bag and leaves room. The fork folds out and extends for easy storage. If you intend to use your Vixia camcorder frequently, this is truly a must-have accessory. Highly recommended.
