Revainrating 5 out of 5

Green, slimy, and mixes well with distilled water and ethanol to make a hand sanitizer.

Hand sanitizer is usually easy to source. However, it may take some time before it becomes available again. This is my own method of making hand sanitizer and I do not recommend it for non-professionals as ethanol is flammable and/or explosive under certain conditions. If you're not good at chemistry and lab work, don't try. In any case, try it at your own risk. Pour 8 ounces of distilled water into a vessel and heat. After a strong boil, add 3 ounces of aloe gel. Bring to a boil while stirring. Keep stirring until mostly dissolved. (about 5 minutes). Turn the hood on to maximum and add 32 ounces of 200 proof food grade ethanol, 8 ounces at a time. This results in a hand sanitizer containing approximately 73% ethanol. Again, use caution as pure ethanol is highly flammable and combustible when the liquid or vapor reaches the flash point or is near a spark or open flame. Anyone attempting this must have a chemistry background and prior experience. A fully charged fire extinguisher is required, as are gloves, face protection and non-flammable clothing. The yield is about 41 ounces of product. Note. Make sure the ethanol you use is food grade. Otherwise it will be denatured (poison). Methanol and other chemicals used to denature alcohol are easily absorbed through the skin, and the fumes are toxic. This can result in serious injury or death. Just say!
