My first reaction when I took this quilt out of the box was disappointment. The duvet felt too light for me and lacked the fluffiness I was expecting. I've had duvets (and alternative duvets) in the past and they all seemed much more durable. As the day progressed I realized that my fears were unfounded. Obviously the feathers in this duvet were compressed more than in my previous duvets as their thickness almost doubled in 24 hours. It's still a much thinner/lighter comforter than my others, but it doesn't compromise on warmth (which ultimately is what matters most to me). This blanket had NO bad smell when I took it out of the box. I've been using this blanket for about a week now and only noticed a feather escaping (and that was when I first received it and took it out of the box). its packaging).
