These pants are not really waterproof. I was disappointed as my daughter goes to forestry school and needed padded waterproof pants. They don't hold as much water as regular pants, but they're definitely not waterproof. That being said, as long as it's not actively jumping in puddles or standing in the rain, they keep it fairly dry from wet logs and leaf brushes. against them, and as long as they stayed dry, they also kept them warm. In the rainy winter we had I had to wear this with rubber rain pants.
