Monster CPU Heatsink

I bought this because it had 15% more max airflow and more than twice the area of my Noctua heatsink. The Noctua heatsink I used had a surface area of 6000 cm^2. The heatsink area is 13,134 cm^2, which is a huge improvement over Noctua. The CPU can be easily attached to the motherboard. If you have MSI x399 Pro Carbon or Meg, you may find the heatsink rubbing against the VRM heatsink. I have tested all the effects of this on the dyno and can say that it does not negatively affect the VRM in terms of thermals. However, this also hides the 4 RAM slots closest to the CPU. So make sure you put them in first or you'll have to reinstall that heatsink to put anything in it. My old Noctua NH-U14S TR4-SP3 will keep my CPU cool. an average of 28 degrees Celsius and 58 degrees under full load. The Cooler Master Wraith Ripper gives you an average of 29 degrees and 48 degrees idle at full load. I suppose one difference at idle is that it makes contact with the VRM but noticeably holds the CPU. steeper than Noctua at maximum load. Edit: I should mention that this is used with Threadripper 1950X, woopsUPDATE: 11/15/2018. I've had some abnormal temperature swings so I did some research to find out why. The fan came BACK from the factory, meaning it struggled with airflow in my case. After correcting the fan orientation, my standby temperature dropped from 29°C to 24°C, which is a big difference. My maximum temperatures are also stable now. It took me an hour to properly disassemble the radiator without damaging it. (The adhesive holding the silicone mounts for the mounting screws can be reused, don't be afraid to press down on the mounting screws to loosen them from the cover with something like a screwdriver. (Yes, I said screws, not silicone mounts) Glue again attach to the shroud as soon as you screw it back in.
