Review on Microsoft Wireless Comfort Desktop 5050 (PP4-00001), Black: Superior Ergonomics and Performance by Edward Mcnamara

Good keyboard, good mouse. Accessible.

I'll start this review by saying that I like this keyboard. mouse, yes Everything is fine, but there are small complaints. The only downside that affects both the mouse and keyboard is the USB dongle. That's way too long and I would prefer a key from MS Sculpt keyboards or Logitech transceivers. They are simply smaller, more compact, seem more durable and don't get in the way. I'll look at the pros and cons of the mouse and keyboard separately. Keyboard: Pros: No split keyboard, so slightly narrower than most ergonomic keyboards, allowing for a closer mouse position for less RSI stress. (A lot of people forget mouse position and how it affects you.) The keys are quiet and give an overall sense of durability. A simple and efficient layout for the average user. The palm rest is comfortable and the keyboard looks sleek and sleek overall. Cons: You need to download a driver from the Microsoft website to set up additional keys (1-5) and check if the lock keys are enabled. When accessing some of the lock keys, such as B. "Function Lock" which I and many others prefer is the normal shift key versus the lock function; it does not indicate if it is activated without a driver. A simple indicator light would be useful to indicate whether the keys are "locked" or not. I also don't like the fact that there are 2 detachable "legs" to lift the board. I would prefer it all attached so no extra parts are lost. Finally, there are a couple of buttons whose purpose you don't know and it would be helpful if the manual listed their functions. (HINT: The button next to the right ALT key is a task switch button and may need a driver to work correctly. At least I press it without a driver and nothing happens). Mouse: Pros: This is a larger mouse so it fits better in the palm of your hand, which can be useful since you don't want to squeeze or strain your hand muscles. Cons: The mouse itself is a bit uncomfortable. The forward and back buttons are on opposite ends of your hands, so your ring finger will unknowingly hit the forward button when you're just holding the mouse. One note: I couldn't find the power button on the mouse (obviously it's on the bottom, but I must have missed it when I looked there). There she is. Overall a good keyboard (although with some weaknesses) with a good mouse combo. Decent affordable price. Slightly more compact which is good for RSI/Carpal sufferers to have a closer mouse position. This is probably one of the most affordable Revain keyboards on the market and it doesn't skimp on quality.
