My original set from 25 years ago is still going strong. no chips and no cracks. The only reason I bought 12 more of these is because they have been etched and scratched over the years from knife use and being washed in the dishwasher. I haven't given them up, but now I have a new second set to use when friends drop by for impromptu meals. The size and shape of these bowls are so versatile that they are by far the most used utensil. They are almost like dinner plates with sides to prevent splashes and spills. Dinner size salads can be tossed and eaten without spilling on the sides, ideal for stews or curries and anything gravy or sauce related. . . especially for a casual meal away from the dining table, ie on the couch, with that bowl on your lap. It's also my favorite dish to use when the recipe says to fry something in a pan and then set aside. I place my cooked squirrels in this bowl and it easily holds any juices that leak out while the squirrels are resting. As a side note, they are space-saving and fold well and stack well in the cupboard and in the dishwasher.
