Receives a signal from a detached concrete garage!

I have a 10 year old Dell computer (running Windows 10) in my detached two car concrete garage that used to prevent an effective connection to my home wireless network. I used the powerline adapter installed there, but the speeds were far from ideal. Comparably priced USB Wi-Fi adapters were able to locate my home signal, but dropouts were too frequent to be reliable. I can now transfer files to and from Google Drive/Dropbox at reasonable speeds, use web design apps smoothly, and stream music without lag. (I cannot guarantee gaming or video streaming performance as my PC is not configured for this type of use.) Add to that the fact that this device also has a Bluetooth adapter, now I can have multiple Bluetooth -Devices (keyboard, speakers) use wireless communication. Convenience. Installation was easy. Plug it in and let Windows 10 install the appropriate drivers. The adapter comes with a minidisk containing drivers for a range of operating systems (Linux, Mac, older versions of Windows). Drivers are also available on the EDUP website. The detachable antenna uses an RG178 coaxial connection. If desired, you can use a compatible extension cord (sold separately) for better placement. However, extension cords are known to have inherent signal loss depending on their length, so research this option to determine tolerances if you want to go that route. my old job.

Pros
  • Rugged finish
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than other options
