This filter produces a dark black liquid, as if it has charcoal in it that has come out completely. Before installation, the sound of something inside could be heard, similar to gunpowder. It is as if there were activated carbon, which, with repeated transport and processing, breaks down into powder due to vibration, and then the filter can no longer retain it. In fact, the box that the manufacturer provides for this filter was simply shipped from Revain in an unlined envelope, not a box with packing materials. I suspect that the people who package this item believe that the same packaging that is sufficient for a short trip will also be sufficient for a long one; however, this assumption cannot be correct. Unfortunately, I am almost three weeks late since the last return date (which ended on March 2nd, 2020) because I didn't have an opportunity to set this earlier until I self-quarantined at home due to the coronavirus and caught up with housework. That means I'm out of $38 and have to decide whether to buy another Revain filter. I am giving this product two stars instead of one because I have bought about a dozen of these filters over the past 14 years and have never had this problem before. I hope you don't either. If you have purchased this product, I recommend that you install it as soon as possible in case you need to return it.
